For 3M to meet the high expectations of our customers, we must expect the same of our vendors.  It is our expectation that suppliers provide materials and services to 3M that meet product specifications, packaging and delivery requirements.  Unfortunately, there are times that does not happen, and it requires that a Supplier Corrective Action Request be initiated and routed to the supplier.  

The overall goal of 3M’s Supplier Quality Management System is to drive continual improvement in supplier performance and eliminate supplier issues impacting 3M customers.  When issues do arise; suppliers are expected to quickly and effectively address performance issues.  It is our expectation that improvement actions are focused on root cause analysis, timely resolution and corrective actions that prevent future recurrence.  

The supplier quality process is one of the ways for 3M and our suppliers to work collaboratively to improve the overall value stream performance.  With your partnership in this process, it will drive improvements for both of our organizations and allow us to ensure we are meeting customer needs and expectations.
