When it comes to bonding exterior panels on high-profile buildings like the Chicago O'Hare Airport and the Walt Disney Concert Hall, architects trust 3M™ VHB™ Tapes to permanently adhere one substrate to another while distributing the stress load across the entire length of the bond.
The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) (EU) No 305/2011 lays down harmonised rules for marketing of construction products in the European Union and beyond.
Those rules have a direct influence on the requirements of construction products, which are consequently reflected in national product standards, national technical approvals and other national technical specifications as well as provisions related to construction products. The CE marking obligation applies to all construction products which are covered by a harmonized standard.
European Technical Assessments (ETA) can be issued, if the construction product is not or only partially covered by any harmonised European Standard (hEN). Assessment methods and criteria for ETAs are laid down in a European Assessment Document (EAD).
The ETA is valid in all 28 European Member States and those of the European Economic Area, as well as in Switzerland, Norway and Turkey.
Applications such as Structural Glazing and Structural Cladding are not covered by harmonized standards, therefore, 3M has chosen the voluntary way to CE-mark selected products for these applications.
If you require further information please contact your local 3M representative.
